Education:

Graduate or postgraduate level in Civil / Coastal / Marine Engineering or a closely related discipline.

Required Competencies for Coastal Design Engineer:

• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the principles of numerical and physical modelling and the ability to interpret modelling results for design.
• Detailed knowledge of design techniques, tools, calculations and principles involved in producing marine technical plans, layouts, drawings and technical specifications.
• Experience applying relevant design codes, standards and other guidance to ensure technical quality.
• Experience preparing technical specifications for data collection activities (including site investigations) that may be needed to support marine works design.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of marine-based construction methods, materials and best practice.
• Experience and confidence in providing specialist marine technical support to multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Conversant with Delft, Mike or Telemac.
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills and fluency in the English language.
• Minimum of 8 years experience of international experience

Duties For Coastal Design Engineer

• Prepare designs (conceptual, preliminary, detailed, tender) for coastal and marine structures, including some or all of the following:
• breakwaters
• rock revetments
• groins
• artificial beaches
• beach stabilization schemes
• marinas.
• Carry out 2D-3D modelling and prepare technical reports and proposals and liaise with clients and regulatory authorities
• Prepare designs in consultation with other Discipline Engineers, as appropriate.
• Ensure that designs are in compliance with the Coastal Engineering Manual and Shore Protection Manual.
• Responsible for any design review by implementing the needed parameters.
• Analyse all technical reports and generate a complete design report on a regular basis at any design stage supported with technical data reports and analysis, modelling, etc.
